E. M. Najeeb is a Kerala based first generation entrepreneur. He is the Managing Director of Airtravel Enterprises India Limited, Group, Chairman of the Great India Tour Company Private Limited, Executive Director of KIMS Health Care Management Limited, Chairman of Green Gateway Leisure Limited and the Chairman of a number of companies under the ATE Group brand. ATE Group has 15 ventures, 600 professionals, group turnover of Rs. 515 crores, offices at 12 locations across India and four offices in the UAE.
He has been substantially contributing to the travel and tourism industry in Kerala for the last 36 years. He has contributed particularly to the growth of tourism in the state. His initiatives in developing a Public-Private Sector Partnership in Tourism in Kerala, and his role in forming the Kerala Travel Mart Society (KTM) as a prime marketing tool of the tourism industry in Kerala, serving as President for three terms are well recognized. Similarly, his pioneering initiatives for Medical Value Travel, Golf Tourism and Helicopter Tourism in Kerala are well known.
E.M. Najeeb is also the President of the Confederation of Kerala Tourism Industry (CKTI), which is an umbrella organization of various trade bodies in tourism. He is a member of the Governing body of Tourism and Hospitality Skill Council, New Delhi. He is the Chairman, Southern region for Indian Association of Tour Operators. He has been the Chairman of the Kerala Chapter of the ‘Indian Association of Tour Operators’ (IATO) for the last 18 years. He is a member of the Tourism Advisory Committee and member of the Committee on ‘Responsible Tourism’ Government of Kerala. He is a member of the Tourism Media Relations, Consultative Committee Kerala, member of the Hotel Classification Committee of Government of India for Kerala region, member of the Tourism Expert Committee, Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) and the member of the Approval and Classification Committees for Hotels, Houseboats, Ayurveda Centers and Tourism Training Institutions. He was the Chairperson of the Working Group on Tourism Infrastructure constituted by the Planning Board and member of such other committees in government for Tourism Development and Physical Infrastructure Development. He is a member of the CII State Council and Convener of the Tourism Panel.
He has contributed considerably to the developmental initiatives of the State, especially through his role as member of the Managing Committee of Trivandrum International Airport Development Society (TRIDAS), Former President of the Trivandrum Chamber of Commerce (TCC), Former President of the Trivandrum Management Association (TMA), and Vice Chairman of Trivandrum Agenda Task Force.
His commitment and participation in academia has been well recognized. He was Syndicate Member of Cochin University of Science & Technology (CUSAT).He is presently the member of the Advisory Committee of the Kerala Institute of Travel & Tourism Studies (KITTS), a Government institution for Tourism Studies.
He has served as member of the Board of Studies of Business Management of Kerala University, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kannur University and Noorul Islam University , Kanyakumari.He was instrumental in starting the MBA Course for Tourism in CUSAT, and the Kerala University Institute of Management Studies
He is a public speaker, literary enthusiast and a creative writer. He has published several articles and interviews in various national and international publications . He has received many awards including the Management Leadership Award of the Trivandrum Management Association (TMA), several awards for Travel & Tourism including the ‘Best Tour Operator’ award from the Kerala Tourism for five years and Awards from various National and International Airlines for Productivity and Excellence, Indian Express- Galileo Award, and also awards & recognitions from various national and state level social and cultural organizations.
